Sawtooth Mountains, WOW!!! Everybody’s familiar with the Grand Teton’s and The Cascade Mountains in the NW, but if you don’t see the Sawtooth Mountains you might just miss the most beautiful, rugged mountains you’ll ever see. The ride from Ketchum and Stanley ID to the Sawtooth Mountains is magnificent.

Ketchum is one of those Ski resort villages you see in posters. A beautiful town with lots of old west history to explore. From there is a winding highway, over mountain passes and through mountain valleys, to Stanley, ID. The view of the Sawtooth Mountains is inspiring.

Our stay at Jerry’s Cabins and Motel was awesome! Both the cabins and motel are clean and comfortable. The cabins, although rustic, offer great beds and a back porch to die for. All motel rooms face the Salmon river with a great view of the Sawtooth Mountains.

The view of Thompson Peak and the surrounding Sawtooth Mountain Range was incredible. The porch on the back of the cabin directly faced the Sawtooth’s and there we cooked up our own dinner on the grill.  While waiting for me to finish up grilling steaks some rented a rod and reel and did some fly fishing. With the Salmon River just 15 feet off the deck, watching them fish made for some fun observation for those relaxing on the deck. After dinner we went next door for beverages to sit and relax. Reliving the ride and views of the Sawtooths with the group, while watching an extraordinary sunset. Just doesn’t get any better!
